Year 11

Year 11 at Fairfield brings together years of learning as pupils deepen their expertise, showcase their talents and prepare for their next steps. Our curriculum combines ambitious subject study with opportunities to develop the independence and confidence needed for further education, employment and adult life.

All pupils study English Language, English Literature, mathematics, science and PSHE. In English, An Inspector Calls raises powerful questions about responsibility and society, alongside further exploration of Shakespeare, Dickens and poetry. Mathematics strengthens logical reasoning and the application of knowledge to complex problems. Science explores inheritance and evolution, the Earth’s resources, forces and electromagnetic waves. PSHE provides valuable preparation for life beyond school, including budgeting, saving, first aid, mental health and healthy relationships.

Within their chosen options, pupils pursue increasingly demanding and rewarding work. Depending on their subjects, they may investigate Nazi Germany, undertake geographical fieldwork, discuss future ambitions in another language or explore questions of peace and conflict. Others develop business pitches, digital solutions or approaches to improving health and wellbeing. Creative and practical subjects offer opportunities to refine portfolios, prepare performances and demonstrate individual ideas and technical skill.

Throughout the year, purposeful revision, feedback and assessment help pupils consolidate their learning and prepare confidently for their qualifications. Explore the subject plans below to see how Year 11 supports achievement and opens doors to the future.
