Pupils should arrive at school no later than 8.10 am. The school day starts at 8.15 am, at which time we expect your child to be in their form room. Registers are taken at 8.15am prompt, and your child will receive a late mark if they are not in their form room by that time.
At 9.00 am, the registers are closed. In accordance with the Pupil Registration Regulations, if your child arrives after that time they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence. This may mean that you could face the possibility of receiving a fixed penalty notice if the problem persists.
It is important that pupils arrive on time in order to ensure a calm start to the school day and avoid missing key information given during AM form time and/or at the start of period 1. In addition, punctuality is a positive behaviour required for the world of work.
Pupils arriving late, after 8.15am, will serve a same day break time detention for 15 minutes. If any pupils fail to attend this break detention we will notify parents/carers and pupils will then have to serve an after school 30 minute detention the next day.
If you need any help and support regards your child’s attendance or punctuality, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s form tutor or head of year.
