Welcome To Year 10

Welcome to the year 10 landing page! I am Ms Tilley, Head of Year 10. I teach French, German and Health and Social Care across Years 7-11. I have been a Head of Year for 10 Years and a form tutor for a few years before that. My favourite thing about working as a Head of Year is making sure that my pupils have everything they need to overcome barriers to learning, and that their time at Fairfield provides an education beyond the classroom. I strongly believe that Year 10 is where we begin to see our pupils grow into the Successful Learners, Responsible Citizens and Confident Individuals that we are so proud to send on to college in Year 12. Year 10 is the year upon which college applications are made, so attendance, punctuality and best efforts are key to this year, more than ever. I try and see this as the start of an 18 month Key Stage 4, rather than just another year at school.  

In this year group you will begin your GCSE and BTEC courses. You will continue working on your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and begin your Young Leaders Award. At Christmas you will apply to become prefects and our new Pupil Leadership team will be chosen. Your careers and mocks weeks in July will focus you even more on the short time you have left at Fairfield and encourage you to strive for the best colleges and courses for your progression into Further Education.  

We’re also looking forward to our annual trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach as well as curriculum trips and residentials.
