Coming Together for Iftar at Fairfield

16 Mar 26

Last week, our school community came together for Iftar - an evening of reflection and breaking fast together.

We were delighted to welcome over 130 attendees for this special event, which brought members of our school and wider community together. The evening was opened by our Headteacher, and we were honoured to welcome guest speakers Imam Mohyuddin from Ashton Central Mosque and Reverend Paul from St Clement’s Church. They shared insightful reflections on the importance of fasting in Islam, fasting during Lent and the value of community cohesion.

Our Year 10 pupils beautifully recited an Arabic verse along with its English translation, and our Year 11 pupils offered a heartfelt thank you to our guests for their time and support.

A special thank you goes to our Science teacher, Mr Hussain and his family for preparing and providing a huge tray of delicious pakoras and samosas. We were also grateful to Bollywood in Droylsden, for supplying sundries and pizzas – everything went down a treat!

We would also like to thank Miss Derrett and Mrs Rasul for leading and organising the event. From the décor and set-up to the invitations and food arrangements, everything was thoughtfully planned. Their hard work paid off and the evening was a wonderful success.

We feel incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community come together for Iftar.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a warm and memorable occasion for our school community.

Events like this are a wonderful reflection of our school community, where we value and respect different cultures, faiths and traditions.
